No shocking result in a game when second ranked Real Madrid II (12-2) beat 12th ranked Lanzarote (5-10) in Arrecife 81-70 on Saturday. Real Madrid II dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Lanzarote's 40. They outrebounded Lanzarote 40-24 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for swingman Usman Garuba (203-2) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Serbian forward Mario Nakic (197-1) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Real Madrid II's coach Javier Juarez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Javier Herreros (194-94) answered with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Jarad Scott (203-95, college: Union, TN) added 12 points in the effort for Lanzarote. Four Lanzarote players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Real Madrid II. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with Azuqueca. Loser Lanzarote keeps the twelfth place with ten games lost. Real Madrid II will face Tenerife Naut. (#8) in Santa Cruz de Ten. in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lanzarote will play on the road against Casvi (#14) in Villaviciosa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
