No shocking result in a game when first ranked Estela (17-1) crushed 6th ranked Cantbasket (10-8) in Santander 84-64 on Saturday. Estela made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Cantbasket outrebounded Estela 49-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for forward Joseba Iglesias (200-83) who led his team to a victory with 25 points. Lithuanian forward Justinas Olechnavicius (194-94, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard David Garcia (192-80) answered with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and American Takija Knight (203-94, college: Clayton St.) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Cantbasket. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Estela. They maintain first place in Group A-A with 17-1 record, which they share with Zornotza. Loser Cantbasket dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Estela will face Santurtzi (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cantbasket will play against Burgos (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
