Regular Season Round 17: Araski - Estudiantes 71-60

Date: January 27, 2018
Bottom-ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (0-17) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 71-60 loss to tenth ranked Araski (8-9) in Vitoria-Gasteiz on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-60. American power forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and swingman Marta Tudanca (182-90, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Araski's coach Madelen Urieta used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Mariana Gonzalez (187-88) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and forward Paula Ginzo (187-98) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Araski moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Al-Qazeres. ASEFA Estudiantes lost their seventeenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings. Araski will meet league's second-placed Argon Uni Girona on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ASEFA Estudiantes will play against Gernika (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
