Regular Season Round 15: Vasco Da G. - Flamengo 75-89

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Rio de Janeiro: Flamengo (#4) and Vasco Da G. (#11). Vasco Da G. was defeated at home 75-89 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was a great evening for point guard Arthur Pecos (183-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Venezuelan point guard David Cubillan (181-87, college: Marquette, agency: Pro Sports) helped adding 13 points and 4 assists. Five Flamengo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) with 18 points and 6 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and guard Luis-Gustavo de-Oliveira (190-91) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Flamengo. They moved-up to second place. Loser Vasco Da G. keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Flamengo will meet at home league's leader Paulistano in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vasco Da G. will play against Liga Sorocaba (#15) in Sorocabana and hope to secure a win.
