Bottom-ranked Panionios managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Panionios won against tenth-ranked G.Larissa-Faros in Athens 74-66. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But G.Larissa-Faros won fourth quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Panionios made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was French point guard Boris Dallo (196-94, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian-Canadian power forward Dejan Kravic (211-90, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Panionios players scored in double figures. Point guard Nontas Papantoniou (190-90) produced 17 points and 7 assists and Dutch power forward Roeland Schaftenaar (211-88, college: Oregon St.) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Panionios (3-11) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Trikalla. G.Larissa-Faros at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Aris and Koroivos. Panionios will meet higher ranked Kolossos HH (#8) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. G.Larissa-Faros will play against Promitheas and will have a slim chance for a victory.
