The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Roma S.Azzurra's (9-8) home victory over 9th ranked Roma Tiber (8-10) 80-63 on Saturday. Roma S.Azzurra shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Roma Tiber was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for naturalized Dominican guard Yancarlos Jefferson Rodriguez (195-94) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 assists. Point guard Giovanni Corbinelli (180-97) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Roma S.Azzurra's coach Germano D'Arcangeli used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Matteo Santucci (193-98, agency: SPORTlab Agency) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Daniele Ricciardi (184-81) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Roma Tiber. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Roma S.Azzurra moved-up to seventh place in B. Newly promoted Roma Tiber keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Roma S.Azzurra will face higher ranked Salerno (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Roma Tiber will play against Catanzaro (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
