Seventh ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (9-6) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Basket Gdynia (8-7) 77-75 on Saturday evening. Basket Gdynia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Paulina Misiek (182-87) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. American center Carolyn Swords (198-89, college: Boston Coll., agency: LBM Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski players scored in double figures. American forward Kahleah Copper (185-94, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Latvian center Kristine Vitola (193-91, college: UTEP) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Basket Gdynia. Basket Gdynia's coach Gundars Vetra rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with AZS UMCS. Basket Gdynia at the other side dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski will play against Enea AZS P. (#9) in Poznan in the next round. Basket Gdynia will play on the road against JAS FBG in Sosnowiec and hopes to get back on the winning track.
