Regular Season Round 16: Ensino - Joventut LC 77-72

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Joventut LC (7-9) lost to sixth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (10-6) in Lugo 72-77 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-20. But Joventut LC won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Maquinaria Ensino won last quarter 26-23. It was a very good performance for American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: ProDep Management) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Maquinaria Ensino players scored in double figures. Eliana Soriano replied with 16 points and 4 assists and center Paula Tutusaus (186-95) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Joventut LC. Joventut LC's coach Sergio Manzano rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Maquinaria Ensino have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Cortegada. Joventut LC lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Maquinaria Ensino will face Arxil Pontevedra (#7) on the road in the next round. Joventut LC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Barcelona Barca CBS.
