The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Montbrison's (8-7) road loss to fourth ranked Charnay (10-5) 63-69 on Saturday. It was a great evening for forward Laure Belleville (175-87) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Melanie Devaux (170-92) helped adding 15 points and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was Estonian power forward Maaja Bratka (190-92, agency: LBM Management) with 26 points and American power forward Patricia Bright (193-91, college: Oregon St., agency: LBM Management) scored 8 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. The victory was the third consecutive win for Charnay. Newly promoted Charnay maintains fourth place with 10-5 record. Loser Montbrison dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Reims. Charnay will meet higher ranked Angers (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Montbrison will play against CFBB and hope to secure a win.
