Regular Season Round 22: Aishin AW - Mitsubishi K. 47-75

There was no surprise in Anjo where 10th ranked Aishin Wings (5-17) were crushed by fourth ranked Mitsubishi K. (15-7) 75-47 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi K.. Aishin Wings managed to win fourth quarter 26-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aishin Wings to just 4 points in first quarter and to 11 points in first half. They outrebounded Aishin Wings 47-28 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mitsubishi K. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Aishin Wings' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mitsubishi K. made 7 blocks. The former international center Risa Nishioka (184-97) had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Nemoto Yo (173-95) chipped in 14 points during the contest. At the losing side center Baiq Ghua (185-92) responded with 12 points and forward Hikari Itaya (176-93) scored 7 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mitsubishi K. have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 15-7 record, which they share with Chanson V-M. Aishin Wings lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 17 games lost. Mitsubishi K. will meet at home Hitachi Cougars (#8) in the next round. Aishin Wings will play against Haneda Vickies in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
