Regular Season Round 21: Araberri - Oviedo 104-74

The game between third ranked Oviedo CB (14-7) and twelfth ranked Araberri (10-11) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Oviedo CB was crushed by Araberri in Vitoria-Gasteiz 74-104. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Oviedo CB. The game without a history. Araberri led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. Araberri outrebounded Oviedo CB 35-22 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Araberri especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Johnny Dee (183-92, college: San Diego) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import point guard Alec Wintering (183-95, college: Portland) contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Five Araberri players scored in double figures. Point guard Fabio Santana (188-92) answered with 13 points and 6 assists and Senegalese forward Mouhamed Barro (205-95) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Oviedo CB. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Araberri moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Valladolid. Oviedo CB at the other side dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Araberri is looking forward to face higher ranked La ICL Manresa (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oviedo CB will play against Ourense and is hoping to win this game.
