Regular Season Round 21: Coruna II - Naron 93-85

There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Coruna II (6-12) won against at home 12th ranked Naron (7-11) 93-85 on Sunday. Naron trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 32-28 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 85-93 at the end of the game. It was a good game for guard Pablo Ferreiro (187-98) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Ruben Rey (198-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Coruna II's coach Fernando Buendia used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Shanon Fowler (-93) answered with 28 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Anthony Holliday (191-92, college: Lamar) added 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Naron. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Coruna II. They moved-up to thirteenth place in Group A-B, which they share with Obradoiro II. Loser Naron keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Coruna II will face higher ranked COB (#10) in Ourense in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
