Rather predictable result when third ranked Kanazawa Sam. (16-15) won against 6th ranked Tokyo Z (12-20) in Ishikawa 92-78 on Sunday. Kanazawa Sam. had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Kanazawa Sam. players scored in double figures. American center Luke Evans (203-91, college: Cal.Baptist) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds and Latvian center Ricmonds Vilde (211-90, college: Houston Baptist) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Tokyo Z. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Kanazawa Sam. maintains third place with 16-15 record having five points less than leader Akita NH. Loser Tokyo Z keeps the sixth position with 20 games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will face Cyberdyne IR (#4) in Tsukuba in the next round. Tokyo Z will play on the road against Shinshu BW in Nagano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
