Regular Season Round 17: Scandone AV - Germani BR 95-96

The biggest surprise of round 17 in Serie A took place in Avellino where guest Germani BR (#1) barely escaped a defeat edging 3rd placed Scandone AV by 1 point 96-95 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Germani BR made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Germani BR looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) who scored 22 points. The former international guard Michele Vitali (196-91) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Germani BR players scored in double figures. American guard Jason Rich (191-86) produced 29 points and 7 assists and the other American import forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Germani BR have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-4 record. Scandone AV at the other side dropped to the second position with five games lost. They share it with EA7 Armani and Umana VE. Germani BR are looking forward to face Dolomiti En. TR (#10) in Trento in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Scandone AV will play on the road against Fiat TO (#6) in Torino and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
