Second Stage Round 6: Gimnasia LP - Villa Mitre CF 75-70

There was no surprise in La Plata where 11th ranked Villa Mitre CF (10-14) was defeated by ninth ranked Gimnasia LP (10-11) 75-70 on Sunday. Gimnasia LP dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Villa Mitre CF's 12. They outrebounded Villa Mitre CF 38-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Villa Mitre CF was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Brandon Nazione (202-94, college: E.Michigan) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Matias Sesto (190-91) chipped in 23 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and swingman Santiago Ibarra (194-98) scored 20 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gimnasia LP moved-up to seventh place in South. Villa Mitre CF lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost. Gimnasia LP will face league's leader CA Platense in Florida in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Villa Mitre CF will play on the road against Rocamora (#14) and hope to win that game.
