Regular Season Round 34: Toros - Libertadores 85-83

Eleventh-ranked Libertadores (6-24) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Toros (15-16) in Nuevo Laredo on Sunday. Toros managed to secure only two-point victory 85-83. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Libertadores outrebounded Toros 39-26 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. Point guard Jerime Anderson (187-89, college: UCLA) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Gary Ricks (185-91, college: Drake) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward Travis Gabbidon (201-86, college: UTSA) responded with 30 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and power forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-88, college: Stillman) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Libertadores players scored in double figures. Toros maintains seventh position with 15-16 record. Libertadores lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 24 lost games. Toros will meet higher ranked Aaguacateros (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Libertadores will play against Fuerza Regia (#4) and hope to secure a win.
