Important game to mention about took place in Iwate. Sixth ranked Iwate Big Bulls (3-29) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-best Gunma (18-13) 77-74 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gunma. Iwate Big Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Gunma's 28. American center Markhuri Sanders-Frison (203-88, college: California) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import center Jalen McGaughy (208, college: Dillard) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Masashi Obuchi (182-83) scored 11 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Iwate Big Bulls maintains sixth place with 3-29 record. Gunma at the other side keeps the second position with 13 games lost. They share it with Fukushima. Iwate Big Bulls will play against league's second-placed Fukushima on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gunma will play against Sendai 89ers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
