Regular Season Round 18: Real Betis - Gipuzkoa GBC 88-94

There was no surprise in Sevilla where 18th ranked Real Betis (4-14) was defeated by twelfth ranked Gipuzkoa (8-10) 94-88 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 24-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Gipuzkoa made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was British power forward Daniel Clark (210-88) who scored 25 points. Canadian point guard Kenny Chery (180-92, college: Baylor) chipped in 24 points (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!). Four Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was British guard Luke Nelson (190-95, college: Cal-Irvine, agency: 3Eye) who recorded 22 points and Montenegrin-Serbian center Vladimir Golubovic (212-86, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Gipuzkoa maintains twelfth position with 8-10 record. Real Betis lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Gipuzkoa will face higher ranked Gran Canaria (#9) in Las Palmas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Real Betis will play on the road against Valencia Basket (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
