Regular Season Round 33: Sendai 89ers - Akita NH 58-76

An interesting game for Akita Happinets (28-4) which played road game in Sendai against 4th placed Sendai 89ers (13-19). First ranked Akita Happinets had an easy win 76-58. Akita Happinets dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sendai 89ers' 16. They outrebounded Sendai 89ers 39-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. Sendai 89ers were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 4 assists. Point guard Takuya Nakayama (182-94) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Guard Tanisato Keiya (188-94) answered with 15 points and U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) added 15 points in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 28-4 record. Sendai 89ers lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 19 games lost. Akita Happinets will face Aomori Watts (#5) at home in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's second-placed Gunma and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
