Regular Season Round 26: Gomel-Sozh - Gorizont II 70-41

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Gorizont II (2-18) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Gomel-Sozh (11-9) 70-41. The game was mostly controlled by Gomel-Sozh. Gorizont II was better in fourth quarter 12-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Gorizont II 41-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. Forward Anna Hatskevich (180-92) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Marina Rakovskaia (173-92) supported her with 20 points. Four Gomel-Sozh players scored in double figures. Even 12 points by Ekaterina Yalchik (170-0) did not help to save the game for Gorizont II. Point guard Lyubov Stepanova (165-99) added 9 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gomel-Sozh maintains fourth position with 11-9 record. Gorizont II lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Gomel-Sozh will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gorizont II's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Minsk to the arena Tsmoki-Minsk.
