No shocking result in a game in Nagoya where second ranked Toyota A. (18-4) defeated 8th ranked Hitachi Cougars (7-15) 87-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota A.. Hitachi Cougars managed to win fourth quarter 12-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 39-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Toyota A. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. The former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side power forward Reimi Nunira (176-93) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Chika Suzuki (183-93) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota A. have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-4 record having just three points less than leader JX-Eneos S. Hitachi Cougars lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Haneda Vickies. Toyota A. will meet Denso Iris (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hitachi Cougars will play against Mitsubishi K. (#4) in Nagoya and hope to secure a win.
