Regular Season Round 19: Skallagrimur - FSU 95-88

Leader Skallagrimur delivered the fourteenth victory. This time they beat 8th ranked FSU (2-15) 95-88 in Borganes. The hosts were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 25-19 last quarter charge of FSU cut the lead to 95-88 at the end of the game. Skallagrimur well out of reach of FSU shooting 71.9 percent from the field and made 113-of-114 charity shots (99.1 percent) during the game. Skallagrimur forced 24 FSU turnovers and outrebounded them 116-101 including 43 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 29 long-distance shots on high 53.7 percentage. Skallagrimur players were unselfish on offense dishing 51 assists. FSU was plagued by 38 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Kristofer Gislason (195-96) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Aaron Parks (190-94, college: CS Northridge) contributed with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) answered with 23 points and 4 assists and point guard Hlynur Hreinsson (174-92) added 20 points and 7 assists in the effort for FSU. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Skallagrimur maintains first place with 14-3 record. FSU at the other side keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. Skallagrimur will play against Fjolnir (#6) in Reykjavik in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. FSU will play on the road against Snaefell in Stykkisholmur and hopes to get back on the winning track.
