Regular Season Round 16: Minas - Campo Mourao 74-81

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Minas (7-8) and Campo Mourao (3-14), which took place in Belo Horizonte. Higher ranked Minas lost at home to fourteenth ranked Campo Mourao 74-81. Campo Mourao outrebounded Minas 40-29 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Campo Mourao especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Uruguayan-Italian point guard Emiliano Giano (180-89) who added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Campo Mourao players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Evan Roquemore (190-92, college: Santa Clara) responded with 20 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and forward Wesley Ferreira (201-95) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Minas' coach Espiga Soares rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Campo Mourao moved-up to thirteenth place. Minas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Campo Mourao will play against higher ranked Flamengo (#3) in Rio de Janeiro in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Minas will play at home against the league's leader Paulistano (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
