Regular Season Round 19: Vestri - Snaefell 76-75

Fifth-ranked Snaefell (9-8) made lots of trouble for second ranked Vestri (13-4) on Monday. Vestri managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Vestri dominated on the defensive end, holding Snaefell to just 7 points in third quarter. They were well out of reach of Snaefell shooting 74.0 percent from the field and made 51-of-60 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Snaefell 113-93 including a 73-59 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vestri shot the lights out from three sinking 25 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Snaefell helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Montenegrin forward Nemanja Knezevic (203-87) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 24 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists. Four Vestri players scored in double figures. American guard Christian Covile (193-93, college: Adrian) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Nokkvi Nokkvason (185-99) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Vestri have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-4 record behind leader Skallagrimur, which they share with Breidablik. Snaefell lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Vestri is looking forward to face league's second-placed Breidablik in Kopavogur in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Snaefell will play at home against FSU and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
