There was no surprise in Manama where 11th ranked Isa Town (2-20) was defeated by ninth ranked Al-Bahrain (7-15) 65-54. Al-Bahrain held Isa Town to an opponent 24.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Al-Bahrain had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The winners were led by American forward Merrill Holden (203-93, college: Iowa St., agency: SDJ Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Ayoob Najaf supported him with 7 points and 8 rebounds. Al-Bahrain's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 11 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!) by Sayed-Mohammed Habib did not help to save the game for Isa Town. Mansoor Jaber added 16 points. Al-Bahrain maintains ninth position with 7-15 record, which they share with Sitra. Isa Town lost fifteenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 20 games lost. Al-Bahrain's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Al-Ahli in Manama and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Isa Town will play against Al-Riffa (#5) and hope to win that game.
