Very predictable result in Torun where second ranked Twarde Pierniki (15-5) beat 10th ranked Polpharma (9-10) 87-74 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Twarde Pierniki. Polpharma managed to win third quarter 27-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Twarde Pierniki made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Twarde Pierniki outrebounded Polpharma 38-25 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Lukasz Wisniewski (186-84, college: Barton Co. CC) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 9 assists. Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 20 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Serbian Andrija Bojic (207-93, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 21 points and American guard Joe Thomasson (193-93, college: Wright St., agency: Two Points) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Twarde Pierniki. They maintain second place with 15-5 record having four points less than leader Anwil. Polpharma lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Trefl. Twarde Pierniki will meet PGE Turow (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Polpharma will play against MKS Dabrowa Gornicza and hope to secure a win.
