Regular Season Round 17: Homenetmen - Moutahed 94-72

Leader Homenetmen delivered the fifteenth win on Tuesday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Al Moutahed (8-9) 94-72 in Beirut. Homenetmen dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Al Moutahed's 40. They outrebounded Al Moutahed 50-31 including a 36-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Homenetmen looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds. Tunisian Makram Ben-Romdhane (204-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Four Homenetmen players scored in double figures. American forward Ricardo Powell (199-83, college: S.Carolina) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Bachir Ammoury (198-83) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Al Moutahed's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Homenetmen maintains first place with 15-2 record. Al Moutahed at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Homenetmen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Al Riyadi.
