Fifteenth-ranked Sturgeons (13-20) used its home court advantage to challenge sixth ranked Leopards (22-11) in Jinjiang. The visitors from Shenzhen managed to secure only three-point victory 111-108. However their fans expected much easier game. American forward Jared Sullinger (206-92, college: Ohio St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American-Montenegrin point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll.) chipped in 34 points (!!!). The best for the losing side was American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) with 44 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and international Zhelin Wang (214-94) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Leopards and four Sturgeons players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Leopards. They maintain sixth place with 22-11 record. Sturgeons at the other side keep the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. Leopards will play against Golden Bulls (#9) in Hangzhou in the next round. Sturgeons will play at home against Long-Lions (#10) and hope to get back on the winning track.
