Regular Season Round 19: PGE Turow - Asseco 73-82

There was a minor upset in Zgorzelec where 6th ranked PGE Turow (11-10) was defeated by eighth ranked Asseco (10-9) 82-73 on Wednesday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a great evening for swingman Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz (196-95) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. The former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) helped adding 20 points and 5 assists. Four Asseco players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Rod Camphor (191-92, college: SW Oklahoma St.) responded with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import guard Cameron Ayers (196-91, college: Bucknell) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. PGE Turow's coach Michael Claxton rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Asseco went down to ninth position due to points difference. PGE Turow lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eighth place with ten games lost. Asseco will meet at home higher ranked BM Slam Stal (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. PGE Turow will play against the league's second-placed Twarde Pierniki having rather not much hope for a victory.
