Regular Season Round 17: Byblos - Al Riyadi 80-88

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Byblos (2-15) were defeated at home by second ranked Al Riyadi (14-3) 88-80 on Wednesday. Al Riyadi made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game, while Byblos only scored ten points from the stripe. American forward Donte Greene (206-88, college: Syracuse) stepped up and scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners and the former international swingman Jean Abdel-Nour (198-83) chipped in 12 points and 14 rebounds. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. Georgian power forward Nikoloz Tskitishvili (212-83, agency: Interperformances) responded with 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 blocks and American guard Devin Brooks (186-92, college: Creighton) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Al Riyadi. Defending champion maintains second place with 14-3 record behind leader Homenetmen. Byblos lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Al Riyadi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Homenetmen.
