There was no surprise when 9th ranked Porvoon Tarmo (4-14) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Lahti (11-6) 93-83 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 28-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Lahti outrebounded Porvoon Tarmo 41-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Porvoon Tarmo was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American power forward Henry Pwono (203-91, college: East Central) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Devin Martin (193, college: Md-E Shore) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Michael Besselink (198-99) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and guard Leandre Uyulu (187-98) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Four Porvoon Tarmo players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lahti moved-up to fourth place in Division. Loser Porvoon Tarmo dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Lahti will face Forssan Koripojat (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Porvoon Tarmo will play against Pyrinto II in Tampere and hope to win that game.
