Tenth-ranked Forssan Koripojat (4-13) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked TuNMKY (11-6) in Turun on Wednesday. TuNMKY managed to secure only six-point victory 104-98. However their fans expected much easier game. Forssan Koripojat was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 22-19 charge of TuNMKY, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 15-9. TuNMKY outrebounded Forssan Koripojat 46-34 including 35 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Tomi Lommi (194-96) who scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Mikael Sandberg (210-91) chipped in 24 points and 8 rebounds. TuNMKY's coach Juha Ruohonen used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Juwan Howard-Jr (200-92, college: Detroit Mercy) produced 40 points (!!!) and forward Markus Molenius (203-92, agency: Octagon Europe) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five TuNMKY and four Forssan Koripojat players scored in double figures. TuNMKY moved-up to fifth place in Division. Loser Forssan Koripojat keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. TuNMKY will face league's second-placed Ura Basket in Kaarina in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Forssan Koripojat will play on the road against Lahti (#4) and hope to win that game.
