Regular Season Round 16: Valur - Njardvik 73-106
Date: February 1, 2018
10th ranked Valur (5-11) was outscored at home by sixth ranked Njardvik (9-7) with the biggest margin this round 106-73. Njardvik outrebounded Valur 50-36 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American forward Terrell Vinson (201-90, college: Massachusetts, agency: HMS) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds. International Maciej Baginski (195-95) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Five Njardvik players scored in double figures. American forward Urald King (198-90, college: SE Oklahoma) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and center Birgir Petursson (205-86) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Valur. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Njardvik moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Grindavik. Newly promoted Valur keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Njardvik's next round opponent will be Thor AK (#11) in Akureyri where they are favorite. Valur will play on the road against Stjarnan and hope to win that game.
