Regular Season Round 20: Skallagrimur - Fjolnir 88-86

Sixth-ranked Fjolnir (8-10) was very close to win a game against first ranked Skallagrimur (15-3) in Borganes. Skallagrimur managed to secure only two-point victory 88-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Fjolnir was ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 28-18 charge of Skallagrimur, which allowed them to win the game. They were well out of reach of Fjolnir shooting 74.0 percent from the field and made 80-of-88 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Skallagrimur forced 19 Fjolnir turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 34 long-distance shots on high 73.9 percentage. Skallagrimur players were unselfish on offense dishing 42 assists. Fjolnir was plagued by 38 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Aaron Parks (190-94, college: CS Northridge) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists and swingman Eyjolfur Halldorsson (194-98) who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Four Skallagrimur players scored in double figures. American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: SDJ Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Andres Kristleifsson (190-95) scored 25 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Skallagrimur maintains first position with 15-3 record. Fjolnir at the other side keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Skallagrimur will play against Hamar (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Fjolnir will play against Snaefell and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
