Seventeenth-ranked Blue Whales (8-26) gave a tough game to twelfth ranked Fly Dragons (16-18) in Beijing. Fly Dragons managed to secure only three-point victory 116-113. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Blue Whales. American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) notched a double-double by scoring 52 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and Lebanese point guard Wael Arakji (194-94) supported him with 7 points and 8 assists. Fly Dragons' coach Dragan Raca allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 41 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds by Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) did not help to save the game for Blue Whales. The former international point guard Wei Liu (190-80) added 18 points and 9 assists for lost side. Four Fly Dragons and five Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Fly Dragons maintains twelfth position with 16-18 record. Blue Whales at the other side keep the seventeenth place with 26 games lost. Fly Dragons will play against higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#7) in Urumqi in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Blue Whales will play on the road against Beijing Ducks (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.
