Everything went according to plan in Mogi das Cruzes where fourth ranked Mogi (13-3) beat 11th ranked Vasco Da G. (7-12) 89-80 on Thursday. They outrebounded Vasco Da G. 43-29 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mogi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and international Jimmy Oliveira (191-90) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Mogi players scored in double figures. Guard Luis-Gustavo de-Oliveira (190-91) responded with 18 points and international power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) scored 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mogi. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Flamengo. Loser Vasco Da G. keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Mogi will face Campo Mourao (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vasco Da G. will play against Universo/Vitoria and hope to win that game.
