Date: February 1, 2018
Third ranked Flamengo (13-3) crushed at home 13th ranked Campo Mourao (3-15) by 23 points 92-69, which is the biggest margin this round on Thursday night. Flamengo outrebounded Campo Mourao 42-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Campo Mourao's players. The former international power forward Joao-Paulo Batista (205-81, college: Gonzaga) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American-Dominican MJ Rhett (206-92, college: Mississippi) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Helio-Vitor Lima (185-81) responded with 10 points and 5 assists and center Daniel Castellar (203-83) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Flamengo. They maintain third place with 13-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Paulistano, which they share with Mogi. Loser Campo Mourao dropped to the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Flamengo will face Joinville (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Campo Mourao will play against Mogi and hope to win that game.
