Regular Season Round 20: Breidablik - Vestri 92-95

Round 20 most important game was a victory of Vestri over one of their biggest challengers Breidablik 95-92 on Thursday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Breidablik. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. Vestri made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Breidablik helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Montenegrin forward Nemanja Knezevic (203-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Four Vestri players scored in double figures. American guard Jeremy Smith (190, college: Nicholls St.) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds and guard Arni Hrafnsson (185-98) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Breidablik. Breidablik's coach Larus Jonsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vestri (14-4) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position behind leader Skallagrimur. Breidablik at the other side dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. Vestri are looking forward to face Gnupverjar (#7) in Reykjavik in the next round where they are favorite. Breidablik will play on the road against FSU in Selfoss and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
