There was no surprise when 9th ranked Weert (3-14) was defeated on the road by third ranked Leiden (13-4) 74-70. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Weert was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 25-9 third quarter run of Leiden. They also forced 24 Weert turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Jessey Voorn (197-90, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 23 points. International Worthy de-Jong (194-88) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Roel Aarts (205-93) answered with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Matthew Van-Tongeren (201-93) added 13 points in the effort for Weert. Leiden maintains third place with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Groningen. Weert lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. They share it with Den Helder. Leiden will play against Den Helder (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Weert will play against Amsterdam and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
