Regular Season Round 34: Akita NH - Aomori Watts 80-77

Fifth-ranked Aomori Watts (8-25) gave a tough game to first ranked Akita Happinets (29-4). Akita Happinets managed to secure only three-point victory 80-77. However their fans expected much easier game. Akita Happinets outrebounded Aomori Watts 35-23 including 22 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The former international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Coleby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. American forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) replied with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Keisuke Aita (182-95) added 20 points and 4 steals in the effort for Aomori Watts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Akita Happinets have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 29-4 record. Aomori Watts lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 25 games lost. Akita Happinets' next round opponent will be again Aomori Watts (#5) at home.
