Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Alcobendas (9-6) edged on the road 11th ranked Quintanar (5-10) 67-66 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 21-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Alcobendas well out of reach of Quintanar shooting 96.0 percent from the field. Strangely Quintanar outrebounded Alcobendas 53-22 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Pablo Rodrigo (204-86) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and guard Guillermo Ruiz (185-95, college: Newberry) chipped in 16 points during the contest. At the losing side Dominican forward Gregorio Adon (198-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and center Bassirou Gueye (200-97) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Four Quintanar players scored in double figures. Alcobendas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place in Group B. Loser Quintanar dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. Alcobendas will face Estudio (#11) in Madrid in the next round where they are favorite. Quintanar will play on the road against Estudiantes B in Madrid and hope to win that game.
