Regular Season Round 19: L'Hospitalet - Martorell 84-76

Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Martorell (4-15) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked L'Hospitalet (12-7) 84-76 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Martorell won fourth quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Martorell 40-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. Martorell was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Cameroonian center Johan Bitjaa-Kody (207-93, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Devin Schmidt (193, college: Delta St.) helped adding 22 points. At the losing side power forward Alejandro Mazaira (202-97) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and guard David Jofresa (185-95) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Four Martorell players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. L'Hospitalet moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Albacete. Newly promoted Martorell keeps the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. L'Hospitalet will face bottom-ranked Zamorano (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Martorell will play against the league's second-placed La Roda and hope to win that game.
