Very expected game in Galdakao where 11th ranked Ascensores Tresa (4-13) was defeated by fourth ranked GDKO Bizkaia (13-4) 62-55 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 62-55. GDKO Bizkaia outrebounded Ascensores Tresa 46-33 including a 25-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Swingman Maria Espana (180-92) stepped up and scored 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Grace Alonso-de-Armino (178-92, college: Freed-Hardeman) chipped in 6 points and 13 rebounds. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will face Segle XXI (#13) in Barcelona in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ascensores Tresa will play on the road against ADBA in Aviles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
