Regular Season Round 23: Shimane SM - Toshiba BT 63-84

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Shimane Magic (7-27) was outleveled at home by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (22-12) 84-63 on Saturday. Toshiba Thunders made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Yuma Fujii (178-91) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and Kimitake Sato (186-84) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Shimane Magic. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toshiba Thunders maintains third place with 22-12 record having five points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Shimane Magic lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth position with 27 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face league's leader Toyota Alvark in Tokyo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shimane Magic will play on the road against Yokohama BC (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
