Regular Season Round 34: Gunma - Sendai 89ers 108-76
Date: February 3, 2018
There was no surprise when 4th ranked Sendai 89ers (13-20) were outplayed on the road by second ranked Gunma (19-13) 108-76 on Saturday. Gunma shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) scored 26 points and 9 assists (made all of his seven free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Five Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. They keep the fourth place with 20 games lost. Gunma will face again Sendai 89ers (#4) at home in the next round.
