Regular Season Round 22: Villarrobledo - Almansa 85-95

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Almansa (10-4) beat on the road 3rd ranked Villarrobledo (12-4) 95-85 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Almansa. Villarrobledo was better in second period 32-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Villarrobledo was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Puerto Rican guard Bobby Harris (185-91, college: Amer.Internat., agency: Duran International) scored 20 points (made all of his eight free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Kevin Navarro (178-92) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Navarro is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American forward Martin Smith (196, college: Lipscomb) responded with 15 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Vadal Faniel (201-92, college: Texas A&M Int.) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Four Almansa and five Villarrobledo players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Almansa maintains fifth position in Group B with 10-4 record. Loser Villarrobledo keeps the third place with four games lost. Almansa will face Casvi (#14) in Villaviciosa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Villarrobledo will play on the road against Rivas (#9) and hope to win that game.
