Rather predictable result when third ranked Saitama Broncos (16-6) defeated on the road 5th ranked Tokyo Excel. (11-11) 79-74 on Saturday. Point guard Masaya Ueda (177-93) stepped up and scored 15 points and 5 assists for the winners and guard Kodai Takahashi (180-91) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. American Justin Herold (203-91, college: Sonoma St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Saitama Broncos. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Otsuka A. Tokyo Excel. lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Saitama Broncos will face Kagoshima (#6) in Renova in the next round.
