Regular Season Round 34: Fukushima - Iwate Big Bulls 77-76

Sixth-ranked Iwate Big Bulls (3-30) gave a tough game to second ranked Fukushima (19-13) on Saturday. Fukushima managed to secure only one-point victory 77-76. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Iwate Big Bulls outrebounded Fukushima 48-34 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Iwate Big Bulls were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and American center Jarred Shaw (208-90, college: Utah St.) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Noriyuki Sugasawa (192-87) responded with 8 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Jalen McGaughy (208, college: Dillard) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Fukushima maintains second position with 19-13 record having just three points less than leader Akita NH, which they share with Gunma. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the sixth place with 30 games lost. Fukushima will face again Iwate Big Bulls (#6) at home in the next round.
