Very expected game when 16th ranked Ortona (3-17) was crushed at home by twelfth ranked Nardo (9-11) 93-65 on Saturday. Nardo forced 20 Ortona turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Alessandro Poti (192-91) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Gianluca Marchetti (178-93) who added 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Five Nardo players scored in double figures. Nardo's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Luca Malfatti (202-90) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Alex Martelli (195-91) scored 13 points. Nardo moved-up to ninth place in B, which they share with Rimini and Padova. Loser Ortona keeps the sixteenth position with 17 games lost. Nardo will face higher ranked Porto S.Elpidio (#8) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ortona will play against Giulianova (#12) and hope to win that game.
