Regular Season Round 22: COB - Coruna II 75-59

Rather predictable result in Ourense where tenth ranked COB (9-10) defeated 14th ranked Coruna II (6-13) 75-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by COB. Coruna II was better in fourth quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game, while Coruna II only scored seven points from the stripe. COB forced 19 Coruna II turnovers and outrebounded them 46-32 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Coruna II was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Pablo Roman (206-95) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Cristian Iglesias (198-94) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four COB players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Pablo Ferreiro (187-98) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and forward Ruben Rey (198-93) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. COB moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Coruna II keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. COB will face league's second-placed Gijon on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Coruna II will play against Rosalia (#9) and hope to win that game.
